Still Life

Still Life

Day 3 of 30 Days of Poetry

Original painting, acrylic on canvas, of the corner of a wooden table with a grey vase holding four red poppies
People pushing
Always rushing
Hair needs brushing
Time is crushing
Pressure rising
Work downsizing
Unsurprising
I'm devising
My escape

'Cause...

Life's too frantic
Ain't romantic
This gigantic
Transatlantic
Corporation
My vexation
Their fixation
What's vacation?

You pay your bills
You take your pills
Still look for thrills
Run to the hills
Find what's missing
Reminiscing
Start dismissing
All that's wrong
Take a long
Look at life
Cut the strife
Wield that knife
Quell the shakes
Soothe the aches
Hit those brakes!

Sit and chill
Life is best
When it's still.
