Don’t Tell Me Who I Can Talk To

Don’t Tell Me Who I Can Talk To

I’ll decide who I call a friend
With no agenda but my own;
Make my own mind up. In the end
I’m not a child: I’m near half-grown.

Your prima donna act’s worn thin,
So now’s the time I made a stand:
I won’t be told by you who’s in
My social circle’s inner band.

The ones who treat me with respect
And value me for who I am
Are those I’ve learned I can expect
To care about me: that’s my plan.

So you can sit and denigrate,
But you won’t change what’s come to pass:
My mind’s made up, I’ll choose my mates.
If you don’t like it, kiss my a**!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
