I close my eyes to better see
The place I go when I’m alone,
A woodland where there’s only me:
My cares have all been left at home.
The sunlight dapples through the leaves
And birdsong drifts across the air.
The solitude I have achieved
Brings peace to mind while I am there.
I walk along my well-worn track,
Wind between the moss-clad towers.
No end in mind, nor turning back,
Passing countless shady bowers.
And now a clearing ‘midst the copse
Approaches and is soon attained,
Where for a spell my progress stops
While I reflect on calm regained.
This is absolutely beautiful. I loved this poem. Thank you so much for sharing it. I needed this today so badly. It's been so difficult with sensory overload and feeling so many intense emotions from writing the things I've been writing lately. You couldn't have had better timing. At least from my perspective. Thank you again for sharing.

Thank you so much, Bird, for your kind comment. I'm glad my words helped. The woodland is somewhere I have gone in my mind to get away and relax for a number of years now. It's an amalgam of woods I recall from my childhood.
